The commencement ceremony of Hubei's major projects in the first quarter of 2022 took place on February 8 by video link, with a parallel session of Jingzhou on the project site of Xianhe Paper in Shishou. Following the ceremony, the commencement & observation event of Jingzhou's "good start" major projects in the first quarter was held.

Wu Jin, Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, announced the commencement of Jingzhou's "good start" major projects in the first quarter. Present were Zhou Zhihong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Government; Zhou Xiangyang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee; Duan Changlin, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Jingzhou Municipal People's Congress; Jiang Hong, Chairman of the CPPCC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, as well as municipal leaders including Liu Huiwen, Huang Zhen, Zhou Changjun, Xia Guanghong, Han Xu and Wu Changjun.

The commencement ceremony took on a bustling scene. A total of 246 projects in Jingzhou commenced with a total investment of 118.9 billion yuan, showing a large investment scale, high project quality and strong industrial relevancy. Among these projects are 166 projects with an investment of over 100 million yuan each and a total investment of 115.5 billion yuan, and 25 projects with an investment of over 1 billion yuan each and a total investment of 76.8 billion yuan. Gong'an County, Songzi City, Jiangling County and Shishou City ranked top in terms of the number of projects with an investment of over 100 million yuan each; Songzi, Jiangling, Gong'an and Shishou ranked top in terms of project investment. The newly-commenced projects cover fields such as industrial transformation and upgrading, new energy & new materials, infrastructure, culture & tourism and social undertakings.

Project construction was in full swing in the spring. Led by Wu Jin and Zhou Zhihong, members of the four municipal leading bodies, heads of relevant departments directly under the municipal government and committee, as well as heads of counties, cities and districts visited Shishou, Gong'an, Jingzhou Economic & Technological Development Zone and other areas, to observe the commencement of major projects. They visited parks and construction sites, inspected project construction and entered workshops. Wherever he went, Wu talked with enterprise and project leaders to find out project progress, industrial support and factor guarantee, mobilizing the whole city to firmly establish the concept of "project first", give top priority to investment promotion, go all out to achieve a GDP of over 300 billion yuan and endeavor to open up a new prospect for building a provincial regional center city in central Hubei.

The heads of counties, cities and districts saw, compared and learned a lot in the observation. They made mutual comments and exchanged ideas, finding gaps in comparison and seeking development in learning to further boost their spirit and power of competing and overtaking.
